The US Department of Justice believes that Boeing breached the suspension of prosecution agreements relating to the two fatal air crashes about five years ago. The company may face criminal prosecution and then fall into an even more serious crisis. According to documents disclosed last night, Boeing breached the $2.5 billion settlement agreement “failed to design, implement, and execute a compliance and ethics program to prevent and detect violations of US fraud law throughout its operations.” Boeing now has four weeks to provide analysis and opinions that will be taken into account when determining next steps. The US Department of Justice said it is still deciding on follow-up actions, including whether and how to punish the company.
