The delivery of the 10,000th Xiaomi SU7 also marked that the Xiaomi car successfully passed the initial production capacity climb and entered the stage of full acceleration of production capacity.

A CIFA reporter learned from several sources that in order to increase production capacity and shorten delivery times, Xiaomi Auto's Beijing plant plans to launch a “double shift mode” in June, increasing daily production time from 8 hours to 16 hours.

Lei Jun, chairman of the Xiaomi Group, once said that the Xiaomi car factory can produce 40 Xiaomi SU7s per hour, and a new car can go offline every 76 seconds. Based on this calculation, after starting double shift production, its full monthly production capacity is expected to rise to the level of nearly 20,000 vehicles.

It is worth noting that during the May Day holiday, Xiaomi cars are preparing for a “double class”. In the “Xiaomi SU7 Answers Netizens' Questions” posted on Xiaomi Auto's official Weibo on May 13, it was mentioned, “In order to increase production capacity this year, our engineers used the May 1st holiday to carry out a round of equipment maintenance and transformation, making preparations for continuing to rapidly increase delivery capacity in the future. In the near future, we will be reporting some good news to everyone.”

In addition to reforming production lines, Xiaomi has also made corresponding adjustments on the supply chain side. According to market information, Xiaomi Auto is actively cooperating closely with upstream suppliers to seek a significant increase in parts supply to meet rapidly growing market demand. “The Xiaomi SU7 Plus is about 80%.” Supply chain sources said, “This category of parts has increased from about 10,000 sets each month to 18,000 sets + recently.” Furthermore, the Financial Services Association reporter learned that as early as April of this year, Xiaomi Auto began recruiting frontline employees to prepare for double shift production.

It has been less than two months since the launch, and the number of Xiaomi SU7 locks has exceeded 100,000 units. However, the huge number of orders is testing the delivery capacity of Xiaomi cars. Judging from the delivery time shown on the official website on May 15, the delivery time for the Xiaomi SU7 is 29-32 weeks, the SU7 PRO is 30-33 weeks, and the SU7 MAX is 33-36 weeks. The long delivery time has discouraged many consumers who are fond of this car.

“Due to the impact of previous limited-time redistribution activities, we needed a period of time to reorganize everyone's delivery cycle based on the factory's material situation, so we haven't updated the estimated delivery cycle.” Xiaomi Auto responded to the long delivery cycle on Weibo.

In addition to the first phase of Xiaomi's production plant, which is running at full horsepower, the second phase plant is progressing in a steady manner. According to information, the second phase of the Xiaomi Auto Project is located in Fangxindian Village and Xiaozhangwan Village in Yizhuang New Town, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The Financial Services Association reporter learned from the field that the area has now entered the demolition stage, and the archway of the iconic “Fangxin Store” building has already been demolished. According to the plan, construction of the Xiaomi Auto Phase II plant will begin in 2024 and be completed in 2025.

In addition, Xiaomi Auto is making every effort to speed up store construction. It is expected to build 219 sales stores in 46 cities by the end of this year, covering basically all provinces, regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
