【每日天气追踪】不稳定的阵雨天气盛行于美国东南部的大部分地区,使得种植工作进展缓慢

[Daily Weather Tracking] Unstable showers prevail in most parts of the southeastern United States, causing planting work to progress slowly

Golden10 Data ·  May 14 21:25

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from May 19 to 23 predicts that temperatures and precipitation in most parts of the US will be close to or above normal levels.

The following are US agricultural weather tips for Tuesday, May 14, 2024, compiled exclusively by the Jin10 Futures App

Western US region

The warm, dry weather accelerated the melting of snow at high altitudes and caused some rapids to appear in the north-central inland western region and surrounding areas. Warmth in the west has also boosted field work, including spring planting activities, and rapid crop development.

American Plains

Sporadic showers are accompanied by cooler weather in Montana and Dakota. Meanwhile, warm, dry weather generally favors field work and crop development in the central and southern Great Plains. However, due to the drought, some winter wheat is still affected. As of May 12, 35% of crops in Kansas were rated as very poor, 23% in Texas, compared to 18% of the national average.

American corn growing belt

Unstable showers prevail in most of the south-east of the region, causing partial progress in field work to slow down. As of May 12, nearly half (49%) of the planned US corn acreage has been planted, slightly below the five-year average of 54%.

Southern region of the United States

Heavy rain occurred in parts of the Gulf Coast region, mainly from southeastern Louisiana to northern Florida. More broadly, sporadic showers extend from the Mississippi Delta to the central and southern Atlantic states, excluding the Florida peninsula. Meanwhile, southern Florida and the western Gulf Coast region continued to experience early seasonal high temperatures.

Weather outlook

A continuous storm system will bring widespread precipitation in the central eastern United States, with the heaviest rainfall (2 to 4 inches or more locally) expected from eastern Texas to the South Atlantic coast (excluding southern Florida). Rainfall in the south will be accompanied by sporadic intense thunderstorms. The wider region will receive light to moderate rainfall, and the total 5-day rainfall is expected to exceed an inch across much of southeastern Kansas to the Lower Great Lakes region. By contrast, there will be little or no precipitation for the remaining week west of the Rockies. Warmer weather in the west will be accompanied by dry weather, and temperatures will often exceed 100°F at lower altitudes in the southwestern part of the desert.

The US National Weather Service's 6-10 day forecast from May 19 to 23 predicts that temperatures and precipitation are close to or above normal levels in most parts of the country. Subnormal conditions will be confined to parts of Southern California and the southwestern desert, and an area from the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Plateau. Meanwhile, drier-than-normal weather should be confined to parts of the southern region from southeastern Arizona to southern Texas and coastal regions.
