Fisco Japan ·  May 1 14:34

Konishi <4956> announced consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending 2024/3 on the 25th. Net sales increased 7.8% from the previous fiscal year to 132,969 billion yen, operating profit increased 38.6% to 10.286 billion yen, ordinary profit increased 36.3% to 10.806 billion yen, and net income attributable to parent company shareholders decreased 26.8% to 7.344 billion yen (the reason why net income declined was due to the fact that profit from the sale of fixed assets due to the transfer of fixed assets was recorded in the 2nd quarter financial results for the fiscal year ending 2023/3).

Sales in the bond business increased 3.9% from the same period last year to 71,627 billion yen, and operating profit increased 45.7% to 6.609 billion yen. In the general household sector, sales for home centers and convenience stores remained steady. In the housing-related field, sales volume for interior work declined in response to a decrease in the number of new housing starts due to an increase in construction costs. In the industrial materials field, although sales volume of water-based adhesives for paper-related applications declined, sales volume of elastic adhesives used in automobiles etc. increased. In the construction and civil engineering fields, sales of sealants for construction and civil engineering and materials used in fall prevention methods increased as renovation projects increased. Prices of raw materials used in adhesives and sealants are still rising, but the transfer to product sales prices progressed, and sales and operating profit grew.

Sales in the chemical products business increased 13.4% to 39.305 billion yen, and operating profit increased 4.0% to 1,315 billion yen. In the chemical industry, sales of resin raw materials declined. In the automotive field, products for hybrid vehicles showed strong sales due to the resolution of semiconductor shortages and new adoption. As for products for electronic electronics, sales of related products declined due to a decline in demand for individual consumer products such as personal computers, tablet terminals, and smartphones. At Maruyasu Sangyo, there was a decline in capacitor products.

Sales in the construction business increased 12.0% from the same period to 21,857 billion yen, and operating profit increased 39.7% to 2,244 billion yen. Repair/repair/reinforcement work for infrastructure and stock markets centered on public works continued to be strong, and construction progress was also good, so sales and operating profit of all five related construction companies increased significantly. Furthermore, CITIC Construction, which became a subsidiary in January 2023, also contributed to an increase in sales and profits.

Others became real estate leasing businesses, etc., and sales decreased 2.0% from the same period to 178 million yen, and operating profit was 124 million yen (profit of 0.2 billion yen in the same period last year).

As for the consolidated earnings forecast for the full year ending 2025/3, we expect sales to increase 4.5% from the previous fiscal year to 139.00 billion yen, operating profit up 4.0% to 10.70 billion yen, ordinary profit up 1.8% to 11.0 billion yen, and net income attributable to parent company shareholders to increase 0.8% to 7.40 billion yen.
