《日經新聞》報道，東芝考慮裁減日本國內5,000名員工，相當於當地員工總數的約7%，以加快集團重組進度。
據悉，裁員主要涉及總部的後台部門，而集團亦希望透過自願退休計劃來減少員工數目。東芝預計，會因應今次裁員而錄得1,000億日圓(約6.46億美元)與特別額外退休福利以及轉職服務相關的損失。
