Insider Returns Down To US$39k As Foot Locker's Stock Dips 11%

Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE:FL) insiders who acquired shares over the previous 12 months, can probably afford to ignore the recent 11% decline in the stock price. Reason being, despite the recent loss, insiders original purchase value of US$100.1k is now worth US$139.6k.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Foot Locker Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by CEO, President & Director Mary Dillon for US$100k worth of shares, at about US$18.17 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$25.33), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership Of Foot Locker

Foot Locker

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Foot Locker insiders own about US$22m worth of shares. That equates to 0.9% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
