Monday - April 1
- Volatility watch - Options trading volume is elevated on Trump Media & Technology (DJT). Short sellers have been under intense pressure with the stock and talk of a potential gamma squeeze continues. The stock symbol DJT was used in the past by Donald Trump's hotel and casino company before a delisting by the NYSE for a share price of below $1.00. The most overbought stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index include Seafarer Exploration (OTCPK:SFRX), Emcor (EME), and WK Kellogg (KLG). The most oversold stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index include Project Energy Reimagined Acquisition (PEGR), Sirius XM (SIRI), and Zevia (ZVIA).
- All week - Key data reports due to arrive during the week include updates on deliveries from Tesla (TSLA), Nio (NIO), XPeng (XPEV), Rivian Automotive (RIVN), Li Auto (LI) and Lucid Group (LCID). Quarterly sales reports from General Motors (GM), Ford Motor (F), and Toyota (TM) will also be closely watched. Investors will also monitor the Manheim Used Vehicle Index, the monthly Macau gross gaming revenue report, the monthly update on Class 8 truck orders, firearm background check data, and discount broker DARTs reports.
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include PVH (PVH).
- All day - Fortinet (FTNT) will hold its four-day Accelerate 2024 event. Founder and CEO Ken Xie will give a keynote speech. Many of the breakout sessions will have a focus on AI applications.
- All day - Solventum will start trading after being spun off from 3M (MMM) under the symbol SOLV. The new company will separate out 3M's (MMM) relatively faster-growing business in health care as other segments such as industrial and consumer products lag. 3M (MMM) said the new company amassed $8.2B in revenues in FY 2023 and has an estimated global total addressable market of ~$93B.
- All day - Shareholders with Juniper Networks (JNPR) will vote on the $13.6B buyout offer from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
- All day - The FTC regulatory refiling period on Synopsys' (SNPS) planned $35B acquisition of Ansys (ANSS) will expire.
Tuesday - April 2
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Cal-Maine Foods (CALM), Paychex (PAYX), and Dave & Buster's (PLAY).
- All day - Notable investor events include Walmart (WMT) presenting at the J.P. Morgan Retail Conference, Vishay Intertechnology (VSH) Investor Day, an extraordinary meeting of M.D.C. Holdings (MDC) shareholders, and Intel Corporation's (INTC) Investor Webinar.
- All day - GE Vernova will begin trading after the energy business completes its spinoff from General Electric (GE).
- 12:00 p.m. A busy afternoon of Fed speakers includes New York Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams moderating a discussion before the Economic Club of New York, Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank President Loretta Mester weighing in on the economic outlook, and San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President Mary Daly participating in a hybrid fireside chat.
Wednesday - April 3
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Acuity Brands (AYI), Levi Strauss (LEVI), BlackBerry (BB), and Sportsman's Warehouse (SPWH).
- All day - The 2024 Sohn Investment Conference will be held in New York City. The conference has led to share price jumps for some stocks in the past after hedge funds made pitches.
- All day - Walt Disney (DIS) will hold its annual meeting amid a proxy fight for board representation. Activist investor Nelson Peltz and his Trian Group have nominated two director candidates -- Peltz and former Disney Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo -- while Blackwells Capital has put up three. Among influential proxy advisory firms, Glass Lewis has backed Disney's director slate, while Institutional Shareholder Services has backed Peltz's candidacy, but not Rasulo's.
- All day - Notable investor events include Gritstone bio (GRTS) presenting at the World Vaccine Congress and Primoris Services Corporation's (PRIM) Investor Day.
- All day - OPEC's Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee will meet. Analysts do not expect any change to the current oil production policy.
- 9:00 a.m. Maxim Group hosts an event with companies in the bitcoin mining ecosystem, including miners, equipment, and service providers, to discuss the evolution of the industry and prospects for mining following the approval of bitcoin ETFs and leading up to the halving event. The Bitcoin (BTC-USD) halving event is currently expected to happen on April 20.
- 9:00 a.m. Management with Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) will participate in a fireside chat at J.P. Morgan's 10th Annual Retail Round-Up.
Thursday - April 4
- Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Lamb Weston (LW), Lindsay (LNN), and Conagra Brands (CAG).
- All day - Arhaus (ARHS) will pay out a special dividend of $0.50 per share to shareholders of record.
- All day - Some of the notable companies presenting data at the American Association for Cancer Research Meeting include Black Diamond Therapeutics (BDTX), Illumina (ILMN), NeoGenomics (NEO), and Carisma Therapeutics (CARM). Analysts have Verastem (VSTM), Century Therapeutics (IPSC), and Fusion Pharmaceuticals (FUSN) circled as stocks that could get a jolt from the event.
- 9:00 a.m. Home Depot (HD) CFO Richard McPhail will present at the J.P Morgan Retail Round-Up Conference.
- 12:45 p.m. Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Austan Goolsbee will participate in moderated question-and-answer session before the Multi-Chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon and Expo.
Friday - April 5
- All day - The healthcare sector will be on watch with both the American College of Cardiology Scientific Session & Expo in Atlanta, Georgia and the European Heart Rhythm Association Annual Meeting in Berlin, Germany scheduled to start taking place over the weekend. Abbott Laboratories (ABT), Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (EW), Novo Nordisk A/S (NVO), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), and Medtronic (MDT) are some of the companies that could generate buzz from the two conferences.
- 8:30 a.m. The U.S. jobs report for March will be released.
