Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports generative artificial intelligence on devices, such as image and voice assistants, and compatible large language models (LLMs) include Gemini Nano, Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and SmartSpectrum ChatGLM. OnePlus will be one of the first partners to adopt Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.
$Qualcomm (QCOM.US)$Following the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the beginning of this week, another chip was released on Thursday: the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.
According to media reports, following last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm has been working to move high-end flagship features down to a wider product range. Most notably, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports generative artificial intelligence such as image and voice assistants on the device, and compatible large language models (LLMS) include Gemini Nano, Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and intelligent spectrum ChatGLM.
According to information, the 4nm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 has a Prime Cortex-X4 (maximum 2.8 GHz), four performance cores (2.6 GHz), and three efficiency cores (1.9 GHz). This series of chips is aimed at high-end smartphones.
Compared to 7+ Gen 2, Kryo CPU (Geekbench 6 multi-threading) performance increased by 15%, Adreno GPU (GFX Aztec Ruins 1080p) performance increased by 45%, and energy efficiency increased by 5%.
In terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 will be introduced to the 7 series via FastConnect 7800, while the Snapdragon X63 5G modem supports 3GPP Release 17.
On the gaming side, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 has a “post-game processing accelerator” that provides “floodlight, depth, and motion blur” effects, while the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 “enhances content at twice the frame rate without consuming power.”
Photography using Spectra's 18-bit triple cognitive ISP (up to 200MP) is an important highlight, with features such as semantic segmentation (used to identify layers: face, hair, clothes, sky, etc.) and low-light vision.
OnePlus will be one of the first partners to adopt Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, and “in the next few months,” Realme and Sharp will also join.
Qualcomm shares closed 1.9% higher at $170.85 on Thursday. So far this year, Qualcomm has risen by more than 20%.
