Malaysian Shares End Week in Black; Heitech Padu's Shares Rally Over 23%

Malaysian shares ended in positive territory on Friday, extending yesterday's gains, as investors remained upbeat as employment stabilized and the central bank kept policy rates unchanged.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, added 4.03 points to end 0.26% higher at 1,539.86. The day ranged between 1,535.32 and 1,541.15.

In economic news, Malaysia's unemployment rate stood at 3.3% in January, unchanged from a month earlier, according to data released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia. The jobless rate was in line with the consensus forecast.

In corporate news, shares of IT service management company Heitech Padu (KLSE:HTPADU) soared over 23%, and those of the property holding firm Pan Malaysia Holdings (KLSE:PMHLDG) rallied over 18% today.

Meanwhile, shares of refined sugar producer MSM Malaysia Holdings (KLSE:MSM) gained 7% on Friday's close.
