Launch a new online series -- “Nurturing our future” -- Showcasing game-changing regenerative agriculture programs
Peking2022/10/24 /PRNewswire/ -- PepsiCo announced today that it will continue to promote its global agricultural accelerator -- The work of the Positive Agricultural Achievements (The Positive Agricultural Achievements) fund 14 projects in 11 countries to address some of the toughest challenges facing agriculture today.

PepsiCo has developed a series of ambitious Pepsi initiatives, including expanding renewable agricultural practices and improving the adaptability of people in the agricultural supply chain by preparing for climate change.” Rob Meyers, PepsiCo's Vice President of Global Sustainable Agriculture, said, “Achieving PepsiCo's goals and protecting the planet requires fresh thinking and innovative initiatives from our global team. This is the original purpose of establishing the Active Agricultural Achievement Fund, which is to make good ideas easier to achieve.”
Established in 2021, the Forward Agricultural Achievement Fund provides joint investments to accelerate the development of diversified and innovative Forward agricultural projects. These investments aim to “reduce” the “risk” of promising projects while accelerating development through innovative technologies and methods to help scale up the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices.
In 2022, the projects being invested by the Agricultural Achievement Fund span commodities, supply chains, different time zones, and PepsiCo's different business units. All projects focus on testing new regenerative technologies or methods to help farmers build capacity to cope with climate change or develop new sustainable “ecological landscapes”. The Forward Agricultural Achievements Fund provided ongoing support to more than 20 different projects around the world through funding totaling more than $2.7 million in 2021 and 2022.

In August of this year, PepsiCo's Greater China Ministry of Agriculture successfully applied for about RMB 280,000 (40,000 US dollars) of ongoing agricultural achievement fund support for the pilot cover crop (Cover Crop) project at the Linshu Demonstration Farm in Shandong. The project piloted the planting of about 600 acres (99 acres) of cover crops. By inviting contract farm growers to visit the implementation of cover crops and share the results (cost, increase in yield, next season's crop benefits from cover crops), the project aims to show contract farmers, other growers, and local residents around the model farm the benefits of ongoing agricultural practices; by helping growers to intuitively understand the impact of cover crops in increasing soil organic matter, improving soil health, and significantly increasing yield, the project accelerates the promotion of regenerative agricultural planting models among growers that will bring them more income and a better life.
Positive agriculture is one of the pillars of PepsiCo's “Pepsi Positive Plan” agenda, which aims to procure crops and raw materials in a way that accelerates regenerative agriculture and strengthens the development of agricultural communities. Its goals include promoting regenerative agriculture practices on 7 million acres of land by 2030, improving the lives of more than 250,000 people in the agricultural supply chain, and procuring 100% sustainable raw materials.
