08:35 AM EDT, 08/26/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Shangri-La Asia's (HKG:0069, SGX:S07) loss attributable to owners widened to $158.2 million in the six months ended June 30, from $59.8 million a year earlier.
Loss per share came in at $0.04429, compared with $0.01673 in the year-ago period, according to a Friday bourse disclosure.
The hospitality group attributed the increase in losses to an exceptional foreign exchange loss of $106.6 million, stemming from the depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee.
Revenue for the period increased 15% year over year to $627.5 million from $545.8 million, thanks to the recovery of the hotel business amid relaxation in travel restrictions and entry requirements in several countries.
