0409 GMT - New Zealand's NZX-50 closed 0.4% lower at 12970.99, losing ground for a fourth session on an accumulation of headwinds. Power utilities and property stocks were mixed as the backdrop of rising interest rates erodes their yield advantage. Retirement-village operators, facing a possible slowdown in property prices, also fell. Travel stocks retreated after the government's plans for easing border controls underlined that tourism might resume only very gradually. Air New Zealand fell 2.4% and Auckland International Airport lost 2.1%. Heavyweight Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was flat and has lost about 7.0% since the start of September on the prospect of lower earnings after the pandemic. (stephen.wright@wsj.com)
