11:01 AM EDT, 09/17/2021 (MT Newswires) -- American depositary receipts of Asian stocks were trading 0.8% lower at 1,997.49 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Asia 50 ADR Index on Friday.
In North Asia, the gainers were led by personal finance company X Financial (XYF) and biopharmaceutical firm BeiGene (BGNE), which climbed 7.3% and 5.1%, respectively. They were followed by wealth management firm Puyi (PUYI) and solar equipment maker ReneSola (SOL), which rose 4.8% and 3.9%, respectively.
The decliners in North Asia were led by semiconductor companies Himax Technologies (HIMX) and ASE Technology (ASE), which declined 5% and 3.9%, respectively. Digital finance platform 360 DigiTech (QFIN) was also down 3.6%, while online financial information and service company China Finance Online (JRJC) lost 3.5%.
In South Asia, the only gainers were biotech firm ASLAN Pharmaceuticals (ASLN) and telecommunications operator Telekomunikas Indonesia (TLK), which gained 1.7% and 0.4%, respectively.
The decliners in South Asia were led by mining firm Vedanta (VEDL) and telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI), which lost 3.9% and 2.1%, respectively. Bank holding company ICICI Bank Ltd. (IBN) was also down 2%, while automaker Tata Motors (TTM) lost 1.5%.
