According to the MIT Technology Review, a new company dedicated to exploring how to reverse the aging process has receivedAmazonsFounder Jeff Bezos's investment.

The company called Altos Labs was founded earlier this year and is currently offering an annual salary of 1 million dollars to recruit scientists.

According to people familiar with the matter, Bezos is one of the investors in the startup. Bezos Expeditions, Bezos' investment office, did not comment on this.

Bezos resigned as CEO of Amazon in July of this year. In a letter to employees in February, he said he would spend his time on philanthropy and passion projects, including his space exploration company Blue Origin.

This isn't the first time Bezos has invested in anti-aging technology companies; back in 2018, he invested in Unity Technologies, a biotech company dedicated to researching anti-aging treatments.

According to the “MIT Technology Review”, Altos Labs will focus mainly on a technology called “reprogramming”, which works by adding protein to cells to guide cells to return to a stem-cell-like state.

Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka (Shinya Yamanaka) won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for demonstrating this technology on mice. He will join Altos Labs as Chairman of its Scientific Advisory Board.
