Eric Rosengren, president of the Boston Fed, said on Monday that discussions about the US economic recovery were still on paper.
"We are still in a deep recession," he told a labour market conference hosted by the Federal Reserve in Atlanta. "
Although many of the people who have been temporarily laid off have returned to work, "we are still talking about 6.7 per cent unemployment, we are still talking about 3 million temporary layoffs," he said. "
"I hope that this spring, we are talking about a significant recovery. But I think it depends on... Some public health results. "
Atlanta Fed President Rafael Bostick (Raphael Bostic) attended the meeting with Rosengren. He said the US economy is experiencing recession and recovery at the same time. There has been a "significant recovery" in industries where business leaders have emerged from the pandemic crisis model.
