Selangor To Distribute RM200,000 Grants For Tourism Product Innovation
The state government will begin distributing grants next year to support tourism industry players in showcasing new and exciting products, aimed at boosting the state's tourism sector, according to state executive councillor for tourism and local government Datuk Ng Suee Lim.
Ng revealed that a RM200,000 grant would focus on various initiatives to enhance the tourism sector, particularly those aligned with the Visit Selangor Year 2025 (TMS2025) campaign. "The state government has introduced various incentives to tourism industry players, including the latest grants to encourage them to produce their own products that can attract tourists to Selangor," he said.
The grant, which will be distributed in 2025, is open to tourism associations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and industry players, including those in rural areas. Ng made the announcement during a three-day media Fam Trip programme organised by his office and Tourism Selangor.
As part of the event, which began on Friday, media practitioners explored several local attractions, including Sky Mirror, Pantai Redang, Laman Choco, and the firefly habitat in Sungai Panjang.
In November, Ng had already announced the approval of a RM200,000 grant during the pre-launch of the TMS2025 campaign. This grant aims to encourage tourism industry players to introduce more appealing products, with 20 industry players set to benefit. The initiative is part of the state's broader efforts to ensure the tourism sector continues to recover and grow following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
