Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Thursday paid his respects to inventor Nikola Tesla, after whom his EV company Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is named, while noting that using direct current (DC) is better now.

What Happened: "Nikola Tesla was great...," Musk wrote in response to an X user who posted pictures of Tesla's statue at Niagara Falls In Ontario on his birthday, July 10. Nikola Tesla has inspired the names of two EV companies thus far, Musk's Tesla and EV truck maker Nikola Corp.

Tesla is most known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating-current (AC) electricity supply system. Talking about Tesla's contributions to the field of science, Musk said, "...AC was the right move back then."

Despite his criticism of the platform, the CEO also posted a link to a Wikipedia page on high-voltage direct current to validate his point.

Why It Matters: Musk has long been critical of Wikipedia for what he claims to be a 'left-wing bias' owing to its dependency on mainstream media sources.
