Those following along with authID Inc. (NASDAQ:AUID) will no doubt be intrigued by the recent purchase of shares by insider Stephen Garchik, who spent a stonking US$1.1m on stock at an average price of US$7.50. Not only is that a big swing, but it increased their holding size by 12%, which is definitely great to see.

authID Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Stephen Garchik is the biggest insider purchase of authID shares that we've seen in the last year. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$10.38), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Does authID Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that authID insiders own 14% of the company, worth about US$15m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Do The authID Insider Transactions Indicate?

The recent insider purchases are heartening. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest authID insiders are well aligned, and that they may think the share price is too low. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Case in point: We've spotted 4 warning signs for authID you should be aware of, and 2 of them are significant.
