The fact that multiple Enpro Inc. (NYSE:NPO) insiders offloaded a considerable amount of shares over the past year could have raised some eyebrows amongst investors. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Over the last three months, we've seen significant insider selling at Enpro. In total, Senior VP Steven Bower sold US$155k worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. This may suggest that some insiders think that the shares are not cheap.

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Enpro insiders own about US$22m worth of shares. That equates to 0.7% of the company.
