We'd be surprised if Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) shareholders haven't noticed that the Independent Director, Roxanne Taylor, recently sold US$400k worth of stock at US$5.07 per share. Equally important, that sale actually reduced their holding by a full 100% which hardly makes us feel bullish about the stock.

Unisys Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by Roxanne Taylor was the biggest sale of Unisys shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$4.69. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Insiders own 4.5% of Unisys shares, worth about US$15m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
