Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series were sent into a frenzy when the Rockstar Games website briefly revealed placeholder spots for four screenshots, cover art and a release date for GTA 6.

Despite its quick removal, this accidental leak hints that new details about the highly anticipated game could be revealed soon.

The discovery, initially made by Twitter user @GTAVI_Countdown (via IGN), indicated that GTA 6 is actively in development and nearing its release. With speculation mounting, fans anticipate that Rockstar may unveil the screenshots sooner rather than later.

The timing aligns with an upcoming investor call by Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:TTWO), Rockstar's parent company, scheduled for May 16.

Additionally, Rockstar's recent Instagram purge, reminiscent of past pre-trailer reveals, fuels speculation that a significant announcement could be imminent.

Despite the excitement generated by these clues, Rockstar has remained silent regarding any upcoming announcements.

The game is slated for release on Sony Group Corp.'s (NYSE:SONY) PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox Series X|S in 2025, with no confirmation of a PC release date.
