Insiders who purchased US$226.4k worth of ModivCare Inc. (NASDAQ:MODV) shares over the past year recouped some of their losses after price gained 18% last week. However, total losses seen by insiders are still US$82k since the time of purchase.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

ModivCare Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The CEO, President L. Sampson made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$121k worth of shares at a price of US$34.57 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$26.28). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was L. Sampson.

Sampson。

L. Sampson bought a total of 5.50k shares over the year at an average price of US$41.16. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Our data suggests ModivCare insiders own 1.1% of the company, worth about US$4.2m. I generally like to see higher levels of ownership.
