Braskem Posts Q1 Loss; Revenue Dips

Braskem S.A (BAK), a Brazilian petrochemical company, on Thursday reported a net loss for the first-quarter of R$1.345 billion, compared with a profit of R$184 million, posted for the same period last year.

Loss before tax and social contribution was at R$2.071 billion as against a profit of R$144 million a year ago.

Net financial loss stood at R$2.030 billion, compared with a loss of R$352 million in 2023.

Operating loss before financial loss was R$41 million as against previous year's profit of R$496 million.

Net revenue dropped to RS17.920 billion from R$19.446 billion a year ago.

Gross revenue also moved down to R$20.917billion from R$22.389 billion in 2023.

Consumer confidence in Germany is set to improve further in June on rising economic and income expectations amid slowing inflation and rising wages, results of a survey showed Wednesday.
