The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Tuesday (May 7), at the “Let Loose” online event hosted by Apple (AAPL.US), Apple announced the launch of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro. In this update, the 13-inch iPad Pro becomes the thinnest device in Apple's history.

Additionally, Apple has introduced new accessories, including a new Apple Pencil and a more robust aluminum-topped Magic Keyboard designed for the iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro is Apple's highest-end, most advanced tablet product line, and is available in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The new generation of iPad Pro is equipped with Apple's latest M4 chip, which is considered a powerful artificial intelligence chip, while Apple laptops are still using M3 chips.

The new iPad Pro uses a new design, a stronger internal structure, a thinner body, and a major upgrade to the display. As rumored, the new iPad Pro uses an OLED screen in both sizes, providing more perfect black performance, higher color saturation, and greater contrast. The front camera has also been repositioned to the best position for video calls (landscape). These devices use “Tandem OLED” technology, so that the peak brightness of the full screen can reach 1000 nits, and the peak brightness of HDR content is 1600 nits. At just 5.1 mm thick, the 13-inch model is Apple's thinnest device ever, while the 11-inch model is 5.3 mm thick. Additionally, this is the first time that the iPad Pro uses a nano-textured glass coating, perfect for users who prefer a matte display.

Apple has also launched a new app designed for professional video producers, called Final Cut Camera, which can be used to control multiple cameras. The iPad Pro is equipped with a 12 megapixel rear camera, supports 4K video recording, and has an improved flash to make it easier to scan documents.

As for the iPad Air, it also has a new update, and is available in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, both equipped with an Apple M2 chip. The smaller iPad Air (128GB) costs $599, and the larger one starts at $799. Apple has also moved the front camera to the long side of the device for better video calls in landscape mode, in line with the more expensive iPad Pro series.

The iPad Air will be available on the Apple Store starting next week and will be available in a variety of color options including blue, purple, and gold.

Apple CEO Cook said, “This is the most important day for the iPad since it was launched.” These are the first new iPads released by Apple since October 2022, and the longest time since the iPad was first introduced in 2010. The iPad Air was last updated in March 2022.
