The Zhitong Finance App learned that on February 6, 2024, the world's authoritative carbon emission rating agency, the Global Environmental Information Research Center (CDP), announced the latest global enterprise rating results. Modern Animal Husbandry (01117) achieved excellent results in the three fields of climate change, water resources security, and forest risk, demonstrating the responsibility and responsibility of global animal husbandry leaders.

CDP is a London-based non-profit organization founded in 2000 to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the protection of water and forest resources. CDP has partnered with more than 680 institutional investors with total assets of $130 trillion and more than 280 procurement companies around the world to use the power of investors and buyers to motivate companies to disclose and manage their environmental impact. In 2022, more than 18,000 global companies, accounting for more than half of the world's market capitalization, and more than 1,100 cities, states, and regions reported their environmental data through the CDP platform.

As a global leader in animal husbandry, Hyundai Animal Husbandry responds positively to the expectations of stakeholders and investors, and continuously improves its environmental management level and transparency. In the latest CDP rating results, modern animal husbandry received a “B grade” rating for climate change, which is higher than the “B-” rating for the first time in the evaluation, “B” rating for water resources safety for the first time, and “B-” (soybean) ratings for the first time in the assessment for forest risk. These ratings are above global and industry averages, and reflect the leading position and advantages of modern animal husbandry in dealing with climate change and protecting water and forest resources.

The field of “climate change”

Modern animal husbandry has built a green recycling industry chain of “feed cultivation - dairy farming - fecal treatment - organic waste soil fertilization (biogas power generation) - feed cultivation” to achieve comprehensive utilization of biogas energy for power generation (electricity, steam and heating), solid manure recovery, and organic fertilizer return to fields, thereby reducing carbon emissions. Modern animal husbandry has set specific targets and measures to reduce carbon emissions, and plans to reduce carbon emission intensity by 7%, 15%, and 20% in 2025, 2030, and 2035, respectively. In 2022, modern animal husbandry has achieved 16.67% of the carbon emission target in the first phase.

The field of “water safety”

Modern animal husbandry uses WRI water risk map assessment models and tools to investigate and plan ranches operated at high-risk water sites and formulate water management goals and measures. In 2022, the water consumption of single cows decreased by 27% compared to 221, and water consumption for forage cultivation and irrigation was reduced by 13% compared to the same region.

“Forest” field

Modern animal husbandry imported about 8,000 heads of milk in 2022, all from areas without deforestation; all other cows are domesticated. A memorandum of cooperation was signed with COFCO International in November 2023, and the two sides reached an intended soybean trade order of over 200 million yuan. This order is also the first “zero deforestation” soybean order for the Chinese dairy industry.

Hyundai Animal Husbandry said it will continue to adhere to the mission of “herding healthy cows and protecting every drop of good milk”, driven by scientific and technological innovation, guided by environmental responsibility, and aiming at sustainable development, to contribute to the green transformation and low-carbon development of the global animal husbandry industry.
