Tencent Securities News Beijing time in the early morning of July 21, according to the US financial website MarketWatch reported that eBay released the company's second quarter 2017 results after the close of the US stock market on Thursday. The US e-commerce company's quarterly earnings and sales were in line with Wall Street analysts' expectations, but its shares still fell nearly 5 per cent in after-hours trading, according to the report.

EBay reported net income from continuing operations of $27 million, or 2 cents a share, in the second quarter, compared with $437 million and 38 cents a year earlier. Excluding certain one-time items (not in accordance with GAAP), eBay's adjusted net income from continuing operations was $493 million or 45 cents per share in the second quarter, compared with 43 cents per share in the same period last year. Revenue reached $2.3 billion in the quarter, up from $2.2 billion in the same period last year.

The company said it expects third-quarter net income to be between $2.35 billion and $2.39 billion, while adjusted net income from continuing operations (not in accordance with GAAP) will be between 46 cents and 48 cents, compared with analysts' average third-quarter earnings of 48 cents per share on revenue of $2.32 billion, according to a FactSet survey.

EBay also said it expects full-year net income of $9.3 billion to $9.5 billion, with adjusted net profit from continuing operations (not in accordance with GAAP) between $1.98 and $2.03, compared with analysts' average earnings per share of $2 and revenue of $9.4 billion, according to a FactSet survey.
