Recently, Qualcomm released a new smart audio platform, the QCS400. It has high performance, low power computing functions and audio technology, and is aimed at the burgeoning smart speaker market.
According to Qualcomm's official presentation, the QCS400 SoC integrates functions such as high-performance processing, Qualcomm AI engine, audio and video display, and also optimizes power consumption.
Compared to the previous generation, the QCS 400 can process users' voice commands faster and more intelligently, including voice pickup, cancellation of recovery, cloud voice assistant support, and local automatic speech recognition. Additionally, the chip also provides compatibility support for two major sound effects: DTS:X and Dolby Atmos.
Qualcomm said that the key features of the QCS400 chip mainly include:
·Highly integrated and flexible single-chip architecture
·Integrated connectivity features to support Qualcomm aptX Adaptive
· Compatible with Qualcomm DDFA amplifier technology
· Using Qualcomm's multi-keyword detection algorithm, it can clearly recognize voice instructions
· Supports Qualcomm's AI engine
· Consistent multi-level architecture, shortening development time
From the internal analysis chart of the QCS400 published by Qualcomm, it can be seen that the chip integrates a four-core CPU. Qualcomm Adre integrates various modules such as GPU, Hexagon DSP, audio interface, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
In addition, Qualcomm also announced the CSAR6640 DDFA amplifier. It uses a single-chip architecture, making Class D amplifiers smaller, lower in level, more energy efficient, and a portable smart speaker with better sound quality.
Additionally, the CSRA6640 amplifier can be supplied simultaneously with the evaluation kit, which includes software and hardware development tools and required information to support DDFA chips such as the CSRA6640 and CSRA6620, and can simultaneously expand up to 12 channels.
Overall, this batch of Qualcomm chips was created for emerging products such as smart speakers. Currently, only a few mobile phone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi have launched smart speaker products. With the further improvement of intelligence, more mobile phone manufacturers may join this camp in the future. Manufacturers such as OPPO and vivo may all be involved in the smart home field.
