BYD Electronics (00285) announced results for the first half of 2017. The company achieved a turnover of 17.526 billion yuan (same unit below), an increase of 13.18% over the previous year; net profit of 1,322 billion yuan, an increase of 118.97% over the previous year; and basic earnings per share of 0.59 yuan.

In the first half of the year, the Group's metal parts and assembly business developed rapidly, driving the Group's revenue growth; at the same time, in the first half of the year, the Group actively increased production capacity, production efficiency and yield levels, and the profitability of the metal parts business also improved markedly. During the period, revenue from the metal parts business increased 26.49% year-on-year to 6 billion yuan. Furthermore, the Group is actively expanding its 3D glass case business and cultivating new growth poles.

In terms of profit, the Group's gross profit increased 70.90% to 2,114 billion yuan in the first half of the year. Gross margin increased to 12.06% from 7.99% in the first half of 2016. The increase in gross margin was mainly due to the increase in the share of metal parts revenue and profits.
