The Patent Index report released by the European Patent Office on the 25th shows that in 2024, 20,081 patent applications were received from China, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%, reaching a historical high. The report indicates that the European Patent Office received a total of 199,264 patent applications from around the world in 2024, remaining basically flat compared to 2023. The top five countries in terms of patent application volume are the USA, Germany, Japan, China, and South Korea, with applications from China exceeding 10% of the total.
