From June 9 to 10, local time, China's economic and trade leader and Vice Premier He Lifeng of the State Council, held the first meeting of the Sino-US economic and trade negotiation mechanism with US leader, US Treasury Secretary Vincent, Secretary of Commerce Lutnick, and Trade Representative Greer in London, England. The two sides held a frank and in-depth dialogue, had an in-depth exchange of views on economic and trade issues of their respective concerns, reached agreement in principle on a framework of measures to implement the important agreement of the June 5 call between the heads of state of the two countries and consolidate the results of the Geneva economic and trade talks, and made new progress in resolving the mutual economic and trade concerns of the two sides.
He Lifeng said that this meeting was an important consultation conducted under the guidance of the Global Strategy consensus between the heads of state of the two countries on June 5 this year. China's attitude and position on Sino-US economic and trade issues are clear and consistent. The essence of the Sino-US economic and trade relationship is mutual benefit and win-win situation. If China and the US are in the economic and trade fields, they benefit both, and if they fight, they hurt both. There are no winners in the trade war. China is unwilling to fight, but it is not afraid to fight. The two sides should resolve economic and trade differences through dialogue on an equal footing and mutually beneficial cooperation. China is both sincere and principled in economic and trade negotiations. Next, the two sides should further develop the role of the Sino-US economic and trade consultation mechanism in accordance with the important agreements and requirements reached during the conversation between the two heads of state, continuously enhance consensus, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen cooperation.
