State Council Tariff CommissionThe announcement stated that in order to implement the important consensus reached in the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the US, additional tariff measures on imported goods originating in the United States will be adjusted with the approval of the State Council in accordance with the “Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China”, “Customs Law of the People's Republic of China”, “Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China” and basic principles of international law, starting at 12:01 on May 14, 2025. The relevant matters are as follows:
1. Adjust the additional tariff rate stipulated in the “Notice of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Additional Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating in the United States” (Inland Revenue Commission Notice No. 4 of 2025), from 34% to 10%, and suspend the implementation of the 24% additional tariff rate on the US for 90 days.
2. Stop implementing the additional tariff measures stipulated in the “Notice of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Adjusting Additional Tariff Measures on Imported Goods Originating in the United States” (Inland Revenue Commission Notice No. 5 of 2025) and the “Notice of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Adjusting Additional Tariff Measures on Imported Goods Originating in the United States” (Inland Revenue Commission Notice No. 6 of 2025).
