According to research company SimilarWeb, in just one week, the number of users on the DeepSeek website surpassed that of Google's Gemini chat AI, which has been around for nearly two years. On January 31, DeepSeek.com had 2.4 million daily visits in the USA, which is 60% higher than the Gemini website's 1.5 million visits. OpenAI's ChatGPT still dominates with eight times as many visits on that day, totaling 19.3 million. (DeepSeek reached a peak of 4.9 million visits on January 28.) The gap between DeepSeek and Gemini is even larger outside the USA: SimilarWeb's data shows that on January 31, this Chinese chat AI had 29.2 million visits globally (excluding China), more than three times that of Gemini.
