Japan will introduce a new system to ensure the supply chain of critical materials.

Breakings ·  08:52

According to Kyodo News, the Japanese government announced on Tuesday that the country will introduce a system to temporarily place some factories under national control in the event of an emergency, in order to secure the supply chain of critical materials such as Semiconductors and Battery. The Japanese government plans to start this system around autumn next year, in order to better protect the country from outbreaks of infectious diseases and disruptions in the supply of raw materials. Resource-scarce Japan has been working to enhance the resilience of its supply chain to ensure stable procurement of economically critical products, including the 12 products designated by the Economic Security Promotion Law. Capital investment, reserve planning, and research for designated products (including permanent magnets and Henry Hub Natural Gas) will receive financial assistance from the government.
