On December 2, Alstom successfully rolled off its first million shock absorbers at its joint venture in China — Qingdao Alstom Railroad Equipment Co., Ltd. (DISPEN). It is reported that Qingdao Alstom Railroad Equipment Co., Ltd. was established in March 1999, funded by Alstom and CRRC Sifang Vehicle Research Institute. The joint venture introduced a complete set of production technology, special equipment, and tools for the French Alstom Dispen hydraulic shock absorber, as well as original Dispen parts, assembling shock absorber products at the Qingdao factory and using the Dispen brand for sales.
