On November 15th local time, US President-elect Trump announced via social media that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will serve as his Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the newly established US National Energy Commission after taking office. Trump stated that the National Energy Commission is a newly established department that will be involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation of all forms of energy in the USA. The commission will reduce cumbersome procedures, strengthen private sector investments in various economic sectors, and oversee the US's continued energy dominance through innovation. The day before, Trump had nominated Doug Burgum as the Secretary of the Interior for the new government. Burgum previously served as a senior vice president at Microsoft and has been Governor of North Dakota since 2016. Burgum participated in the Republican primaries for the 2024 US presidential election and publicly expressed his support for Trump. He was also one of Trump's vice presidential candidates. (CCTV News)
