On July 4 local time, the European Commission released an announcement on its website, announcing a temporary anti-subsidy tax to be imposed on electric vehicles imported from China starting from the 5th. The longest duration of this tax is four months. During this period, EU member states will vote to decide on the final anti-subsidy measure. If passed, the EU will officially impose a five-year anti-subsidy tax on Chinese electric vehicles. According to the announcement, three Chinese car companies, BYD Company Limited, Geely Holding Group, and SAIC Motor Corporation, which were sampled and investigated, will be subjected to temporary anti-subsidy taxes of 17.4%, 19.9%, and 37.6%, respectively. Other Chinese car companies which cooperated but were not sampled will be subject to a weighted average tariff of 20.8%, while the tax rate for non-cooperating car companies is 37.6%. In the regular press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on July 5, spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a question from a foreign media reporter on whether China would take further retaliatory measures, suggesting contacting China's competent authorities for specific issues. Regarding the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles, China has repeatedly expressed its position against it. We have always believed that specific economic and trade issues should be resolved through dialogue and consultation. China will also take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
