欧盟按原计划将对中国电动汽车加征关税

The EU will impose tariffs on Chinese electric autos as originally planned.

Breakings ·  17:37
After a nine-month anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles (BEVs) from China, the European Commission decided to impose provisional anti-subsidy duties on imported EVs from China. The provisional tariff applies to certain Chinese manufacturers, namely BYD with 17.4%, Geely with 19.9% and SAIC with 37.6%, while other Chinese manufacturers that cooperated but were not sampled will be subject to an average weighted tariff of 20.8%, and non-cooperating companies will face a tariff rate of 37.6%. The provisional tariff will take effect on July 5, 2024, and last for a maximum of four months. During this period, EU member states will vote on whether to convert it into a formal tariff lasting five years. The EU and Chinese governments are still seeking a solution that conforms to World Trade Organization rules through technical discussions. In comparison with the rates disclosed on June 12, 2024, the provisional tariff has been slightly reduced according to the opinions of relevant parties regarding the accuracy of the calculation.
