On June 29th local time, Tropical Storm Belier has been upgraded to a level one hurricane in the Atlantic, currently located about 720 miles (1,160 kilometers) southeast of Barbados, with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour), moving westward at a speed of 22 miles per hour (35 kilometers per hour). Areas affected include Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and multiple areas have issued hurricane and tropical storm warnings or alerts. The National Hurricane Center in the United States has said that this storm is expected to rapidly strengthen, becoming a dangerous major hurricane before reaching Barbados. A major hurricane is considered to be a Category 3 or higher hurricane with wind speeds of at least 111 miles per hour (178 kilometers per hour). (CCTV News)
