Margrethe Vestager, responsible for EU antitrust affairs, stated today that Apple faces some "very serious" issues under the EU's Digital Markets Act. There have been reports that the EU is preparing to prosecute Apple. In March of this year, the European Commission launched an investigation into Apple, Alphabet, and Meta under the Digital Markets Act, which came into effect earlier this year. The investigation listed several concerns about Apple's business practices, including whether Apple prevented app developers from allowing users to learn about alternative and more affordable app subscription options outside of Apple's ecosystem (App Store).
