Recently, Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, revealed that the Hong Kong SAR Government and Peru announced in May this year that they have roughly completed the Hong Kong-Peru Free Trade Agreement negotiations. The goal is to sign the FTA officially within this year after completing the remaining work and their respective internal procedures. Currently, investment agreement negotiations with Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh are also underway. At the same time, the SAR Government will continue to lobby for early accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Currently, the SAR Government has overseas economic and trade offices in 14 locations, covering important trading partners with Europe and the United States as well as emerging markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. It is also planning to establish offices in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to enhance its connections with the Middle East and ASEAN. (China Fund News)
