The reporter learned from the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources that it recently issued the “Notice of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources to Stop Approving Residential Projects such as Commercial Apartments” to stop planning and approval of new residential projects such as apartments throughout the city. The Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources replied to reporters that recent relevant documents of our bureau restrict the act of transforming commercial, office, and new industrial projects into condominiums with long-term residential functions. Since the implementation of the “Guangzhou Urban and Rural Planning Technical Regulations” on January 1, 2016, Guangzhou has strictly controlled the transformation of commercial, office and new industrial projects into apartment functions with long-term residential functions. Cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen also have relevant requirements.
