香港政务司司长陈国基:正与内地商讨如何增加赴港自由行城市数目

Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong, Mr Chan Kwok-ki: Discussions are ongoing with the Mainland on how to increase the number of cities for free travel to Hong Kong

Breakings ·  Feb 17 16:29
According to the Radio Television Hong Kong website on February 17, the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chan Kwok-ki, said that currently residents of 49 cities across the country can freely travel to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong government is discussing with the mainland how to increase the number of cities, and is also studying the “one sign, multiple travel” measures. Chen Guoji pointed out that the first batch of free travel cities were first-tier cities in the mainland, but the mainland is developing rapidly, including the former second-tier and third-tier cities. The opening of free travel to Hong Kong for local residents is very welcome. Regarding the implementation of special customs clearance arrangements at some ports during the Lunar New Year period, Chen Guoji said that overall entry and exit were smooth, with a total of more than 3.9 million inbound and outbound visitors, including 750,000 visitors to Hong Kong, with mainland visitors accounting for 650,000, an increase from 640,000 in 2018 before the pandemic. As to whether the relevant arrangements will become regular in the future, Chen Guoji said that he will keep an eye on future major festivals, especially large-scale events, and cooperate with the mainland with traffic connections, stressing that customs clearance cannot be carried out all day and night; precise arrangements must be made according to actual needs; otherwise, resources will be wasted.
