The National Bureau of Economic Research's business cycle dating committee said in a statement on Monday that all key indicators of employment and production "clearly point to April 2020 as the trough". Before the recession, the US economy experienced a 10.5-year expansion, the longest since records began in 1854. The previous shortest recession occurred in 1980 and lasted six months.
