Cruise giant Royal Caribbean said on Thursday that two passengers on its Ocean Adventure (Adventure of the Seas) had tested positive for novel coronavirus and were returning home with their companions while their secret receivers on the ship were quarantined.
Earlier, two passengers on board the Royal Caribbean Millennium Celebrity (Celebrity Millennium) also tested positive, and the company's Ocean Odyssey (Odyssey of the Seas) was postponed after eight crew members tested positive.
The two infected passengers on the Ocean Adventure were under the age of 16, so they were not vaccinated. One of them is asymptomatic and the other has mild symptoms.
Royal Caribbean said other guests traveling with the two minors and those in close contact with them had been vaccinated and tested negative.
Now, the two passengers and their entourage have disembarked in the Bahamas and are on their way back to Florida.
Royal Caribbean said 92 per cent of the passengers on board the Ocean Adventure had been vaccinated and the remaining 8 per cent were under the age of 16. All the crew were vaccinated.
