According to the latest research report released by Strategy Analytics, global 5G smartphone shipments increased 6% month-on-month, reaching a record 136 million units in Q1 2021.
Strategy Analytics predicts that global 5G smartphone shipments will reach a record 624 million units in 2021, far higher than 269 million units in 2020 as a whole.
Among them, in Q1 2021, Samsung and Vivo became the fastest growing 5G smartphone manufacturers in the world. Samsung's 5G smartphone shipments increased 79% month-on-month to 17 million units; vivo increased 62% month-on-month, with 19 million units shipped; Xiaomi ranked fourth with a 41% month-on-month increase.
Meanwhile, after experiencing the popularity of next-generation 5G iPhones as Christmas gifts in Q4 2020, Apple's 5G iPhone shipments fell 23% month-on-month during the quarter.
