Food giant Kraft Heinz Group said on Tuesday that it plans to invest £140 million (US$199 million) in one of its food production plants in north-west England over the next four years to expand production capacity.
This will be the company's biggest expansion of existing production sites outside the US in more than 20 years, and one of the biggest manufacturing investments the UK has received since Brexit.
The investment is aimed at increasing the plant's production of Heinz ketchup, mayonnaise and salad cream. The company said the funding will also be used to purchase equipment and technology and create up to 50 new full-time jobs. The factory will also continue to produce Heinz soups and pasta products.
