On May 12, MSCI (MSCI) announced the half-year adjustment results for the latest index constituent stocks, which will take effect after the market closes on May 27. Among them, Futu Holdings will be officially transferred to the MSCI Hong Kong Index (MSCI Hong Kong Index).

According to information, the MSCI Hong Kong Index aims to measure the stock price performance of medium and large listed companies headquartered in Hong Kong. The index has 37 constituent stocks, accounting for about 85% of the market capitalization of Hong Kong listed companies.

However, in this latest MSCI adjustment, the MSCI Hong Kong Index added 2 new constituent stocks, namely Futu Holdings' ADR and Zhou Tai Fu, respectively, and excluded ASM Pacific and PCCW. According to the latest market value estimates in circulation, Futu's weight may exceed 1.4% in the MSCI Hong Kong Index. Since ASM Pacific and PCCW were excluded, Futu will also become a rare constituent stock with obvious technological attributes in the MSCI Hong Kong Index, increasing the technology content of the MSCI Hong Kong Index to a certain extent.

It is worth noting that in November of last year, Futu Holdings was just officially included in the MSCI Hong Kong Small Cap Index. For Futu Holdings, another MSCI adjustment six months later was also a continuous “upgrade” for Futu Holdings after being included in the MSCI index.

However, the MSCI series index is one of the benchmark indices most used by international investors and has broad global influence. The MSCI Index is adjusted quarterly and semi-annually every year to add or remove constituent stocks to ensure the authority of the index. However, Futu's transfer to the MSCI Hong Kong Index this time not only means that Futu has been recognized by MSCI in terms of company size, industry position, and stock circulation, but also shows that international investors have affirmed Futu's investment value, comprehensive business strength, and development prospects.
