Bezos, founder of AMZN.US, topped the Forbes list of the world's richest people for the fourth year in a row, while Zhong Jianyu, founder of 09633.HK, became the richest man in China.
A record-breaking 2755 people have made the global rich list this year, with cumulative wealth rising by $5 trillion a year to $13.1 trillion, including 210 people from mainland China and Hong Kong. Bezos, the world's richest man, increased his fortune by $64 billion to $177 billion, while No. 2 Tesla (TSLA.US) CEO Musk was worth $151 billion. Warren Buffett fell out of the top five and ranked sixth for the first time in more than 20 years.
Zhong Xingyi, founder of Nongfu Spring, ranked 13th with a fortune of US $68.9 billion this year, Ma Huateng, chairman of 00700.HK, ranked 15th from US $38.1 billion to US $65.8 billion, while Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba, ranked 26th globally, from US $38.8 billion to US $48.4 billion.
Li Ka-shing, founder of the Changhe Department, overtook Hengdi founder Li Shau-kee to become the richest man in Hong Kong. Li Ka-shing is worth US $33.7 billion this year, making him the 43rd richest man in the world.
