DJ ElectraMeccanica Selects Mesa, Ariz., for U.S. Assembly Facility, Technical Center
By Michael Dabaie
ElectraMeccanica Vehicles Corp. said it selected Mesa, Ariz., for its U.S.-based assembly facility and engineering technical center.
The designer and maker of electric vehicles said the selection marks the end of a yearlong site search conducted by ElectraMeccanica and its partner, BDO USA's site-selection and incentives practice.
The proposed facility in Mesa will support ElectraMeccanica's plan to meet anticipated demand for its SOLO EV, the company said.
ElectraMeccanica said it expects the facility, when fully operational, to create up to 500 new jobs and be capable of producing up to 20,000 SOLOs a year.
The facility will feature a light-vehicle assembly plant and an engineering technical center, including multiple labs to support comprehensive research facilities as well as vehicle chassis, battery pack and power electronics testing workshops, the company said.
Shares were up 2% premarket to $5.88.
