It is worth noting that Berkshire had just opened more positions with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in the third quarter of last year, while Barrick Gold opened a position in the second quarter of last year and drastically reduced its holdings in the third quarter.

There is widespread speculation that Buffett is secretly buying shares in a certain company.
In the fourth quarter position report released after the market on Tuesday, Buffett's answer to this “mystery deal” was revealed. He had secretly bought shares of telecommunications giant Verizon and energy giant Chevron over the past two quarters.
The report shows that by the end of the fourth quarter, Berkshire held 146.7 million Verizon shares worth 8.6 billion US dollars; 48.5 million Chevron shares worth 4.1 billion US dollars.
According to the revised third-quarter position report released by Berkshire on the same day, as of the end of the third quarter of last year, the company held 58.4 million shares of Verizon, worth 3.4 billion US dollars, meaning that holdings in the fourth quarter doubled and a half. Meanwhile, Chevron's position was 44.3 million shares at the end of the third quarter, a slight increase in the fourth quarter.
The acquisition of Verizon and Chevron shares is likely to have been planned by Buffett himself. Both of these acquisitions are in line with Buffett's value orientation.
